Starck X from Starck
In the same way that the letter X in maths stands for the unknown quantity, here it symbolizes a completely new design dimension as Philippe Starck again tackles the subject of the bathroom for Hansgrohe. With 16 products in total, all in polished chrome, the new Axor Starck X collection of mixer taps and matching fittings has no reference points, no models. Reduced design contours with no frills conflict with simultaneous tangible opulence to produce an outstanding collection where nothing is conventional or ordinary.
It is the sculptural, almost monumental elegance and the touch of extravagant luxury which make the collection unique. Perfect geometrically-cut cuboid forms repeat throughout the various models. Operation is by precisely formed joystick levers that add a sense of spirituality to the simple ritual of washing; water gushes from the tap in a waterfall style as if through the crevice of a rock. The even, smooth surface in polished chrome matches the pure geometry of the body of the tap, presenting the highest standard of design and precision quality manufacturing.
As with all Axor collections, there is a wide choice of models to suit different bathroom schemes. Four heights of single lever basin mixer are designed to fit with various basin options, each has the same wide head which hides the view of its base and seems to hover freely above the sink like a plateau.
There is also a wall-mounted basin mixer in coordinating geometric design.
Bidet and bath/shower mixers are joined by an exciting new kitchen mixer that is sure to bring the sense of the professional chef to any domestic kitchen. There is also a new shower panel called Waterwall that embodies the same reduced design with luxurious function in the form of three types of shower option and cleverly concealed storage.
